"I am Tony Wakeford, a Chartered Structural Engineer. I work from my home office in Kenilworth, specialising in domestic extensions and structural alterations in and around Warwickshire. If I had a company motto it would be
"the devil is in the detail".

All of my projects begin with a detailed dimensional and load - pattern survey carried out by myself, in order to gather all relevant information regarding construction of the existing building. That process, coupled with a high level of attention to detail in the subsequent design phase, allows me to home in on the optimum structural solution."

"Liasing closely with the client, architect and builder on each project enables me to provide designs which hit the right balance between aesthetics, practicality and cost. All drawings are hand - drawn by myself and are specific to each individual job. In other words I don't operate in the world of "cut and paste".
I work hard to present drawings to a level of clarity and detail so they can be easily understood by all parties. This approach - allied to over 35 years' experience as a structual engineer - means that the vast majority of my appointments come from recommendations and repeat business."

Tony has provided structural calculations for two separate projects at our home. In both, Tony enabled key design features to be accommodated and was a pleasure to work with. I would recommend him for three reasons; 1) Trust – structural calculations are of course vital for safety and Tony’s extensive experience, qualifications and transparent and clear drawings provide peace of mind; 2) Layout and presentation of structural drawings – the clarity of the drawings with a step by step guide for builders to work to in turn gives confidence that the structural requirements can be easily understood and followed, which in turn makes the Building Control sign off easier. Tony also offers support to builders with any queries. 3) Way of working – Tony is approachable and consultative and, in my experience, he has thought creatively to enhance existing architectural plans. The final result has been two projects that are much better than they would have been due to Tony. I wouldn’t use anyone else for any future work, and wholeheartedly recommend Tony.
